Hello there! This project was inspired by one of my favorite holidays, Star Wars Day! I've had this fabric laying around for almost a year now, planning to one day create something out of it. Once I noticed that it was almost May, the opportunity and idea popped into my mind and I went to work creating this piece to share! So May the fourth be with you!
Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.50MM
Craft Scissors
Yarn Sewing Needle
Yarn used>>1 Skein Black (Red Heart Super Saver Yarn) Medium 4
A little half a yard of Fabric (or a full yard for safety)
Needle and thread
(not shown) elastic band 1cm & safety pin
Measurements of Dress:
Length of entire dress: 29.5 inches Front Waist: 15 inches width
Front Bust Line: 17 inches width
Size Small/Medium
Stitch guide:
HDC= half double crochet
DC= double crochet
SC= single crochet
SS= slip stitch
ST(S)= stitch(es)
CH= chain R[number]= Row
This first step is to create the top. You will be working from the bottom of the top, the waist, to the bust then to creating the straps.
CH 42 (or to half desired waist measurement) 16 inches
R1-R4: HDC in all of the STS for all of the Rows, turn work when complete after each Row.

The next step to is to create the armholes.
Skip the first two STS as well as the last two STS at the very end of the Row 5.
R5-R9: HDC in all of the STS for all of the Rows, turn work when complete after each Row.
For 12 STS only for Row 10.
R10: HDC in all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work when complete after the Row.
R11-R12: Decrease one ST, HDC in all of the STS for all of the Rows, turn work when complete after each Row. (11 STS total)
R13-R21: HDC into the first ST, CH 1, Skip 1 ST, HDC into the following ST..[*Repeat this method until the end ALL of the Rows.
R22: SC in all of the STS for the entire Row, SS at the end of the Row to complete.
*Repeat STEP 1 TWICE to create the BACK as well as the FRONT of the entire piece.
Step 2

Once you have two completed tops. Lie both pieces flat to sew together using your yarn sewing needle and less than half an inch of cut yarn.
Next, once the pieces are sewn together, for the Finishing Technique, HDC around the neckline once and HDC around the armholes only once as well. Using your yarn sewing needle and less than half an inch of cut yarn.
Using your fabric, you will want to measure your yarn for your waistline. 32 inches total of the crochet top circumference, so I rounded my fabric circumference to 40 inches to create a bit of gathering for the fabric, skirt portion of the dress.

Once your fabric is cut. Fold the top portion, horizontally, half an inch to sew the fabric down.

Cut 35 inches of the elastic band, for gathering purposes, use a safety pin to guide the fabric through the sewn slot
Once completed, first sew the elastic band together, using your thread and yarn, sew the elastic band together completing the circle. Next, you will want to do the same to the actual fabric, connecting by using your thread and yarn securing it all together.

With your finished crocheted top piece, turn the finished fabric piece inside out to sew fabric to the crocheted piece. You will be sewing the folded part, right above where the elastic band lies so that the elastic band can still move around.
Sew the fabric around the top bottom portion of the dress, gathering the fabric along as you go until the entire piece is sewn together.
For your hem, also, fold the bottom portion, half an inch to sew the fabric down for a finished look.
