HandMade: The Ring My Bell Crochet Dress.

Hello there! Hope you're having a lovely week! I am constantly inspired by vintage dresses and this dress has been sitting in my design mind for quite awhile. To be honest, the sleeves are the main reason why I wanted to create this dress. Bell sleeves are such a dream to wear, makes me feel like I drifted out of a fantasy novel and I love that feeling. The dress was quite a breeze to construct utilizing basic stitches to create a piece that is so far, one of my absolute favorite projects. This dress was entirely be replicated to wear throughout the year with minor alterations to fit the seasons, I know it will be in my closet for years to come!

  1. Hi there! When you design a dress or top, do you go from a basic pattern you've already created or do you kind of freestyle? I've been wanting to try my hand at crochet garments but I don't know how to get my ideas from my head to the yarn. Any tips or advice?

  2. Hello there Caleisha!
The majority of the time I create each pattern from the beginning entirely new. Depending on the concept I either sketch it out or completely freestyle it. The best way to create crochet garments, in my opinion, is to break everything down. Create everything into parts and into sections as if you're constructing something to become one. It also helps inspecting clothes you already own, perceiving how they have been connected to create one entire piece. That always assist and offers me insight on how to construct my very own piece. Also, I write down all the ideas and inspirations I have and attempt to create something close to that notion. Some of the times the designs doesn't come anywhere close to my original design, but something new and different still came out of it so that's just as amazing! The best advice I would offer is to keep creating, keep trying new ways that challenge you. To be honest, crochet garments frightened me at first, but now I found that they are truly my favorite thing to create. I just kept going at it! I truly hope that helps!
