DIY // Crochet Summer Bag Free Pattern!

Hello there! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Here is a completely free and fun crochet Summer bag to share and wear!

Ingredients:     Crochet Hook>> 15.00MM  Craft Scissors   Yarn Sewing Needle Yarn used>>1 Skein Each Color [4 total] Sugar N Cream Medium 4
 
Stitch guide:    HDC= half double crochet// SC=single crochet// DC=double crochet// SS= slip stitch //ST(S)= stitch(es)// CH= chain R[number]= Row

STEP ONE
To create the FRONT and BACK sides of the purse.
Using Orange Yarn
CH 31
Orange Yarn: R1: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
White Yarn: R2: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
Yellow Yarn: R3: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
Orange Yarn: R4: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
White Yarn: R5: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
Yellow Yarn: R6: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
Orange Yarn: R7: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
White Yarn: R8: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
Yellow Yarn: R9: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1.
Orange Yarn: R10: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and SS to complete final work.

Note: You will recreate this step two times for the FRONT and BACK of the purse.
Next, using the Orange yarn, HDC the sides of both of the horizontal pieces. About 14 STS for each side.
STEP TWO
To create the sides of the purse and bottom as well which will be one long strap.
Using the Accent Color of Choice.
CH 8
R1-R38: CH 1, HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, turn work and CH 1. [You will repeat this method until the very end of Row 38, where you will SS to complete final work.
STEP THREE
Next, thread your yarn [using corresponding yarn] and sew BOTH of the FRONT and BACK sides of the purse to the straps as shown in the photos.
STEP FOUR
To create the open STS for the straps.
Using the Orange Yarn, insert the hook unto the TOP of the sewn purse.
R1: HDC, CH 1, HDC into the following ST, CH 1, Skip 1 ST, into the next ST, HDC..

NOTE: Continue work into you hit the straps on the side, there you will CH 7, and HDC into the following open ST and repeat HDC, CH 1, Skip 1 ST, HDc into the next ST...[You will repeat this method until the very end of the Row, where you will SS to complete final work.
STEP FIVE
To create the chain straps for the cinched purse.
CH 85 [TWO times for the straps]
You will thread the chain through the open STS that were created from STEP FOUR. One chain strap for one side and one chain strap for the other.

STEP SIX
To create the final strap for the top of the purse.
Into the Skipped 7 STS from STEP FOUR. Insert the hook into the side of the skipped STS and HDC into the 7 STS, CH 1, and continue HDC until you hit ROW 28 [or as long as you desire.]

  3. Hello! Stumbled on this one via Pinterest and I love it, but are you sure that's a 15mm hook? Mine seems much larger than your picture and when I started my first row, it seemed rather hole-y!
    (I actually have the same hook in your photo and it says 5.5mm instead?)
