Tutorial Tuesday: The I Love You Free Crochet Hat Pattern.

 Hello there!  
Hope you are having a good start to the week! This week's free crochet pattern, is entirely devoted to the Winter times and frankly, my hands are always cold! I truly wanted a pair of hand warmers that allowed me to be able to create freely without losing my grip. Plus, being able to utilize scrap yarn from past projects is a great method to loosen up that yarn space!

THE INGREDIENTS
Half a Skein-Medium 4 [4 Colors/Red/Pink/Cream] Hot Pink Glitter-Red Heart Party Yarn
Craft Scissors
Crochet Hook H/8 5.00MM
Tapestry Sewing Needle
Measuring Tape

ABBREVIATIONS
hdc=half double crochet crochet
dc=double crochet

sts=stitches
**=Repeat method until end of round


THE PATTERN
You will be creating the graphic first then creating the remaining bits of the hat.
Switching colors between each ST amount.
CH for 16 STS.

Cream Yarn/ R1: HDC for all of the STS for the entire Row, at end of Row turn work and 2TCHS.
LEFT SIDE: R2: [Cream Yarn] HDC for 5 STS--[Red Yarn] HDC for 5 STS--[Cream Yarn] HDC for 6 STS] At end of Row turn work and 2TCHS.
RIGHT SIDE:  R3: [Cream Yarn] HDC for 5 STS--[Red Yarn] HDC for 7 STS--[Cream Yarn] HDC for 4 STS] At end of Row turn work and 2TCHS.

RIGHT SIDE: R15: [Cream Yarn] HDC for 9 STS--[Pink Yarn] HDC for 6 STS--[Cream Yarn] HDC for 1 STS] At end of Row turn work and 2TCHS.
Cream Yarn/ R16: HDC for all of the STS for the entire Row, at end of Row SS to complete work.
Next, insert your hook unto the side of the finished graphic square. HDC for 16 STS along the side of the square, vertically for BOTH SIDES.
Starting with one side you will create this pattern below and after you will connect the sides together.

Cream Yarn/ R1: HDC for all of the 16 STS for the entire Row, at end of row, turn work and 2TCHS.
Cream Yarn/ R2-R21: HDC, CH 1, Skip 1 ST then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the following 2 STSCH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the final 2 STS, at end of row, turn work and 2TCHS. Work this method until you reach Row 21. Then SS to complete work.

Next, you will sew the ends together, both sides of the square together to create a connecting piece. Row 1 to the Other side of the Squares 16 STS.
Next, you will insert your hook unto the TOP of the connected piece. Above the Graphic square so that you will be working in rounds to close in the hat, connecting by SS. Leaving below the graphic piece open to wear.

Cream Yarn/ RND1: Cream Yarn/ R1-R2: HDC, CH 1, Skip 1 ST then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the following 2 STSCH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  
  then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,    then HDC into the final 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST,  at end of round, SS to continue work and 2TCHS.

Cream Yarn/ RND3: HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, at end of round, SS to continue work and 2TCHS.
Cream Yarn/ RND4-RND6: Decrease for the entire round utilizing a Decrease by HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row, at end of round, SS to continue work and 2TCHS. Continue decreasing until the top of the hat is complete sealed and secured. [Like photo above]
Next, add a cut pom pom for detail at the top of the hat!
Next, at the very bottom of the hat, the opening, HDC around the brim of the hat to create a finished look to the hat!
