Tutorial Tuesday: How To Guide // Quick and Easy Chunky Crochet Hat.

Hello There!  
I hope you're having a lovely start to the week! I've created this quick and free pattern on how to create this chunky crochet hat with a big ole pom pom attached! Enjoy!


MATERIALS
Only 1 Skein from Lollipop Yarn Bee Stretched Taffy Yarn
Super Bulky 6 // 49 Yards
Craft Scissors
Crochet Hook Used: 11.00MM
Tapestry Sewing Needle


ABBREVIATIONS
hdc=half double crochet crochet
dc=double crochet
[number]tch[s]=turning chain[s]
sts=stitches
**=Repeat method until end of round


*Note: You will be working in rounds.
CH 45 and connect the first ST to the last ST to create your round.
RND1: SC into all of the STS for the entire round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 45 STS
RND2-RND3: SC into all of the STS for all of the rounds, at the end of each round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 45 STS


RND4: SC into the first 3 STS and into the 4th [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 4th ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 34 STS
RND5: SC into the first 3 STS and into the 4th [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 4th ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 26 STS
RND6: SC into the first 3 STS and into the 4th [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 4th ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 20 STS
RND7: SC into the first 2 STS and into the 3rd [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 3rd ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 14 STS
RND8: SC into the first 1 ST and into the 2nd [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 2nd ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 7 STS
RND9: SC into the first 1 ST and into the 2nd [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 2nd ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to close final work.

To create the Pom Pom Detailing

Using the remaining yarn left over, I utilized the hand technique. Wrapping the yarn around my hand several times, before knotting and securing the yarn [using a light yarn]. Video Reference Here
Using a light yarn to thread the pom pom to the very top of the hat, utilizing the tapestry needle, securing it in place.
