Tutorial Tuesday: The Knotted Beach Bag Free Crochet Pattern.

Hello there and Happy Tuesday to you!  This pattern was inspired by an old tote bag that I've had for awhile and instead of disposing it. I wanted to utilize the materials from it to create something brand new!

THE INGREDIENTS
2 Skeins of Teal/1 Skein of Light Teal/1 Skein of White from Sugar N'Cream/Medium 4/ Cotton
 18 in. 21 in. of cotton fabric
set of purse handles
H/8 5.00 MM Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Craft Scissors
Fabric Glue
1 Set of knot handles
Needle and Thread
ABBREVIATIONS/STITCHES UTILIZED
sc=single crochet
hdc=half double crochet
dc=double crochet
tch[s]=turning chain[s]
sts=stitches
sl st= slip stitch
ch=chain

GAUGE:
9 SC = 4"
10 rows=4"

FINAL DIMENSIONS:
26.5 inches height
18.5 inches length

THE PATTERN
*You will repeat this Step TWICE. Creating both the FRONT as well as the Back piece to construct the bag.

STEP ONE
Chain FOR 50 STS/ 18.5 INCHES LENGTH

Dark Teal: 
R1: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R2: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R3: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R4: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R5: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R6: DC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.

Creating the strap holes
R65: SC into the first 10 STS then for the 11th ST, CH 1, insert knot, skip 1 ST and SC into the following 28 STS until you reach the 39 th ST, CH 1, insert the other side of the handle and and skip 1 ST to SC into the remaining STS.
R66: SC into all of the STS, but once you hit the CH 1, completely skip that ST to secure an SC into the following [so it will hold the strap securely] for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.

Reinsert your hook back into Row 1, using Medium Teal Yarn to repeat the process.
Creating the strap holes back at Row 1
R1: SC into the first 10 STS then for the 11th ST, CH 1, insert knot, skip 1 ST and SC into the following 28 STS until you reach the 39 th ST, CH 1, insert the other side of the handle and and skip 1 ST to SC into the remaining STS.

Implementing Fabric
You may block your piece at this step as well as weave in your ends utilizing your yarn sewing needle.
You will lay your fabric in the middle of the piece leaving 2 inches or so of space before applying fabric glue surround the fabric unto the crocchet piece.

Sewing
Next, with your yarn sewing needle a 2 long strands of yarn, fold the piece, horizontally and inside out with the fabric facing you, you will begin to sew the edges of the piece together, securing the sides in place to become a tote.

Tutorial Tuesday: Crochet Fabric Beach Bag! Free Crochet Pattern.

Hello there and Happy Tuesday to you!  Here's a pattern that I've been wanting to make, primarily because I've had the yarn for quite awhile and wanted to put it to good use! This bag, I feel would be perfect for a trip to the beach or anywhere to be honest!

THE INGREDIENTS
4 Skeins of fabric yarn [you can create your own using this video]
I utilized "Freedom Yarn" 75 yards each /5.3oz/ 100% Cotton /
 1 yard of fabric
set of purse handles
9.00 MM Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Craft Scissors
Fabric Glue
Needle and Thread

ABBREVIATIONS/STITCHES UTILIZED
sc=single crochet
hdc=half double crochet
dc=double crochet
tch[s]=turning chain[s]
sts=stitches
sl st= slip stitch
ch=chain

GAUGE:
7 SC = 4"
6 rows=4"

FINAL DIMENSIONS:
10 inches height
17.5 inches length

THE PATTERN

STEP ONE
Chain FOR 26 STS/ 16 INCHES LENGTH
R1: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R2: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R3: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R4: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R5: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.

REPEAT TWICE FRONT AND BACK.

STEP TWO
Creating the Bottom piece and Side Piece of the Bag. It will be one long strip that will be sewn from one side, to the bottom, reaching the other side.
CH for 4 STS
[19 sts for the SIDES and 26 STS for the bottom for a total of 64 rows]
R1: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R2: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue.
R3-R64: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of the row, turn work utilizing turning chain to continue. After final row [64] SL ST to complete and fasten off work.
STEP THREE
Utilizing your yarn sewing needle and the fabric yarn, you will sew STEP TWO to STEP ONE. Aligning the long strip around what will be the bottom of the bag. [ SEW 19 sts for the SIDES and 26 STS for the bottom for a total of 64 rows]

STEP FOUR
Cutting and measuring out the fabric, 42 inches circumference and the bottom piece is 19 inches length. Turn the bag inside out. Leave the top row of the bag free to construct the handles!  Align the fabric with the crocheted and sew needle and thread to secure [or you may use fabric glue to secure fabric surrounding the bag.]

STEP FIVE
Adding the purse handles, this STEP will be repeated TWICE for the BACK AND FRONT of the bag. With your hook and fabric yarn, insert your hook into the top row, into the 8th ST, SC, CH 1, now you will take your hook out and place the purse strap hoop through and into the following ST, SL ST to secure it. Fasten work and skip 6 STS to repeat this step, implementing the other side of the purse handle securing it in place.

Tutorial Tuesday: Crochet Boho Love Crossbody. Free Crochet Pattern!

Hello there and Happy Tuesday to you!  Here's a little pattern that I've had on my must make list for quite awhile. There are so many styles that I love and the hippie dippie in me just had to get my hands on constructing a handmade accessory that suited my adoration! Now that I've finally completed it, I wanted to share how to create your very own.


THE INGREDIENTS
1 SKEIN of Good Earth by Fibra Natura /47% Linen 53% Cotton /204 yards, 3.5 oz, 100 gms / Medium 4
 1 yard of fabric
metal snap buttons
H/8 5.00 MM Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Craft Scissors
Fabric Glue
Needle and Thread
ABBREVIATIONS/STITCHES UTILIZED
sc=single crochet
hdc=half double crochet
dc=double crochet
tch[s]=turning chain[s]
sts=stitches
sl st= slip stitch
ch=chain

THE PATTERN
*You will repeat this Step TWICE. Creating both the FRONT as well as the Back piece to construct the bag.

STEP ONE
Chain 3, then insert your hook into the first chain stitch you made, forming a ring.
YO, then draw the yarn through the stitch and through the loop on your hook.
CH 1, Insert your hook into the center ring and YO and draw the yarn through the center ring.
RND 1: SC into all of the STS for the entire round, 8 STS total, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 2: HDC into all of the STS TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 3: HDC into the first ST once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 4: SC into the first TWO STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 5: HDC into the first THREE STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 6: HDC into the first FOUR STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 7: SC into the first  FIVE STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 8: HDC into the first SIX STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 9: HDC into the first SEVEN STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 10: SC into the first EIGHT STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 11: DC into the first  NINE STS once, then into the following ST DC TWICE for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
RND 12-RND13: SC into all of the STS for the entire round, at the end of the round, SL ST to continue work.
Approximately: 10 inches width

 [optional step prior to sewing the fabric]
Adding a handmade tag, utilizing a strand of yarn and a yarn sewing needle, place the tag at the opening of the purse and sew it unto the bag.

STEP TWO
Cutting and measuring out the fabric circles, 10 inches circles, two sets. Align the fabric with the crocheted rounds and sew needle and thread to secure [or you may use fabric glue to secure fabric surrounding the bag.]


STEP THREE
Using your yarn sewing needle and a long strand of yarn, sew the two circles together, along the edges, but leaving the top portion open. About 10 inches of an open slot.
As well as adding the metal snap buttons to the opening of the purse utilizing needle and thread to secure buttons in place.

STEP FOUR
CH 4 // 39 inches length or to desired length
R1-R96:  SC into all of the STS for all of the rows, turn work at the end to continue. At final Row 93, SL ST to complete final work, cut off strand and sew into STS.
Next, you will sew the ends of the straps, opposite sides to the side opening of the purse. 2 ROWS placed on the side to secure.


STEP FIVE
Adding the fringe to the bottom of the purse. [optional]
Cut approximately 15 inches, two sets of straps folded over, pull through the bottom STS, wrap over as if to knot the strands to secure it unto the purse.
