DIY// Free Pattern>The Crochet Elf Hood

Hello there! Happy New Year to you! Hope yours was a safe and lovely one! After taking a brief break to focus on gift making and all sorts of crochet goodness. I am more than ready to return with new ideas to create and share with you. The first one out of the gate is this little elf hood that I've had for quite awhile, I wanted to show how I made it!

Ingredients:
Yarn// More than half a skein (Forest Green/Red Heart)
Crochet Hook// I9-5.50MM
Scissors
Pom Pom Maker

Crochet Abbreviations:
SC= single crochet
HDC= half double crochet
CH= chain
SS= slip stitch

One Size fits all.

CH 43
*Row 1: SC the entire Row, Turn
*Row 2: HDC the entire Row, Turn
*Repeat the process from Row 1 to Row 2.
By alternating between SC and HDC until you reach Row 33.

With the finished piece being horizontal.
Fold the hood and sew the top piece together.

The top portion of the crocheted piece.
Using a yarn needle and a bit of yarn, threaded through the yarn. (Less than half an inch of cut yarn.)

Next, you will insert your hook with the accurate yarn to create a finishing look
for the hood.
HDC just the opening rim of the hood, around solely the opening, two times. (For 2 Rows)
From one end right back to the other.
Once you hit the beginning of the hood,
You will finish by SC to the other side of the opening of the hood. (For the 3rd Row.)

For the strap, for each end.
You will insert the hook to the bottom opening of the hood, where you created the finishing look, prior to this step.
Inserting your hook, you will SC 3 times for your Row 1.
Turn, Row 2: HDC the entire Row,
Turn your work to repeat this method of alternating between HDC & SC.
Until you reach Row 34.

(Note: This method for both sides of the hood.)

Next, you will SC around the entire strap for a finished look.

Next, if you choose, you can create a little pom pom for the top of the hood, to add a bit of character!
