Tutorial Tuesday: How To Crochet A Cropped Chunky Sleeveless Pullover. Free Crochet Pattern!

Hello there and Happy Tuesday to you!  So I've been wanting to get back into the blog sphere and I thought I'd show how to construct a super easy and comfy chunky sleeveless pullover, that doesn't take forever to create!

The Ingredients
1 Skein for SMALL/MEDIUM of Caron Cakes "Chunky Cakes"-"Sweet and Sour"// Super Bulky // 100% acrylic
297 yards//9.8 oz

or 2 Skeins for MEDIUM/LARGE/EXTRA LARGE

N-9.00 MM Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Craft Scissors



 Abbreviations / Stitches Utilized
sc=single crochet
hdc=half double crochet
tch[s]=turning chain[s]
sts=stitches
ss= slip stitch
ch=chain

 Size
Women's US Sizing: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large

 Gauge
14 Stitches = 8" inches
5 Rows = 6" inches

 Dimensions
33", 37", 39", 42"

Note:
You will be working from the Bottom, creating towards the Bust and then to the Straps.

The Pattern
*You will repeat this Step TWICE. Creating both the FRONT as well as the Back piece to construct the whole top.

Make a Chain of 35 [medium] = 18.5  inches width
Final height: 15.5 inches length

Row 1-Row 7: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 7. At the conclusion of Row 7, SS to complete work.

Creating the Armholes. 
Deduct two stitches from the beginning of the row as well as the end of the row. [4 STS total from the 35 STS] Inserting your hook into the third ST of Row 8. A total of 31 STS for each Row.

Row 8-Row 13: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 13. 31 STS each Row.

Creating the Straps
For 12 STS solely for Both Sides of the Piece [Left and Right respectively.]
 You will re-insert your hook unto the other side, [once completed] repeating this Step TWICE. 7 inches width open for neckline.

Row 14 : DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue work.
Row 15 : SC in each CH ST from the row. End with SC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, *SS to complete final work.


REPEAT ALL OF THE STEPS ABOVE CREATING TWO IDENTICAL PIECES BEFORE BEGINNING THE NEXT SECTION!

Blocking your Completed Pieces [optional]
You will lie both pieces flat and thoroughly wet the piece [with a spray bottle] lay the piece flat and gently create the shape into the desired finished measurements.

Sewing
(This step is to sew the crocheted pieces together to create your Sweater.) 
Once both of the parts of the top are created. Lie both pieces flat. Now sew the sides together, leaving the Armholes, the Neckline, the bottom and the back  portions will remain free. Once the sewing is complete.

Creating the Turtleneck [Optional]
Inserting your hook into the Neckline of the top, you will be working in rounds to create the Turtleneck detailing.

Round 1-Round 3 : HDC in each CH ST from the row. End with HDC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue work until you reach Round 3. At final Round 3 , SS to complete final work. 29 STS

Finishing Technique for the Sleeves/Armholes
Inserting your hook into the Armholes for the top, you will be working in rounds to create a finishing look to the sleeves.

Round 1 : SC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, SS to complete final work.



ADDITIONAL SIZING

Make a Chain of 32 [small] = 16.5  inches width

Row 1-Row 7: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 7. At the conclusion of Row 7, SS to complete work.

Creating the Armholes. 
Deduct two stitches from the beginning of the row as well as the end of the row. [4 STS total from the 32 STS] Inserting your hook into the third ST of Row 8. A total of 28 STS for each Row.

Row 8-Row 13: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 13. 28 STS each Row.
Note: *Extend within this section for personal desired measurements.

Creating the Straps
For 12 STS solely for Both Sides of the Piece [Left and Right respectively.]
 You will re-insert your hook unto the other side, [once completed] repeating this Step TWICE.

Row 14 : DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH.
Row 15 : SC in each CH ST from the row. End with SC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, *SS to complete final work.

Make a Chain of 38 [large] = 19.5  inches width

Row 1-Row 11: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 7. At the conclusion of Row 11, SS to complete work.


Creating the Armholes. 
Deduct two stitches from the beginning of the row as well as the end of the row. [4 STS total from the 38 STS] Inserting your hook into the third ST of Row 12. A total of 34 STS for each Row.

Row 12-Row 16: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 13. 34 STS each Row.

Creating the Straps
For 14 STS solely for Both Sides of the Piece [Left and Right respectively.]
 You will re-insert your hook unto the other side, [once completed] repeating this Step TWICE.

Row 17 : DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH.
Row 18 : SC in each CH ST from the row. End with SC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, *SS to complete final work.

Make a Chain of 42 [extra large] = 21  inches width

Row 1-Row 14: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 14. At the conclusion of Row 14, SS to complete work.


Creating the Armholes. 
Deduct two stitches from the beginning of the row as well as the end of the row. [4 STS total from the 42 STS] Inserting your hook into the third ST of Row 15. A total of 38 STS for each Row.

Row 15-Row 20: DC in each CH ST from the row. End with DC 1 in last ST.  At end of Row, utilize TCH and continue method until Row 13. 38 STS each Row.
