Tutorial Tuesday: The Pineapple Crush Crochet Top. Free Pattern

 Hello there!  

Hope you are having a good start to the week! This week's free crochet pattern, is a super comfy, but cute halter crop top which is absolutely perfect for the Summer time!

THE INGREDIENTS

3 Skeins of Bernat Maker Fashion Cotton Yarn// Bulky 5

Craft Scissors

Crochet Hook 9.00MM

Tapestry Sewing Needle

Measuring Tape

ABBREVIATIONS

hdc=half double crochet crochet

dc=double crochet

[number]tch[s]=turning chain[s]

sts=stitches

**=Repeat method until end of round

FRONT and BACK PATTERN 

Repeat pattern twice to create full piece.

SMALL/MEDIUM // CH for 32 [18 inches width]
LARGE // CH for 44 [24.5 inches width]
R1: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 3TCHS.
R2-R3: DC into all of the STS for both and the rows and at the end of Row 2, 3TCHS. After Row 3, 2TCHS.
R4: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 3TCHS.
R5-R6: DC into all of the STS for both and the rows and at the end of Row 5, 3TCHS. After Row 6, 2TCHS.
R7: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 3TCHS.
R8-R9: DC into all of the STS for both and the rows and at the end of Row 8, 3TCHS. After Row 3, SS to complete work.
*LARGE SIZING: EXTEND to ROW 18.

Next, Skip 2 STS at the beginning of the row by inserting your hook into the 3rd ST after the skipped ST. You will also, leave the remaining 2 STS of the Row completely empty. You will be decreasing by 2 STS for each Row, 1 at the beginning of the Row and 1 Decrease at the end of EACH row.

R10: [Decrease first] HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 2TCHS. 28 STS Total.

R11: [Decrease first] HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 2TCHS. 26 STS Total.

R12: [Decrease first] HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 2TCHS. 24 STS Total.

R13: [Decrease first] HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 2TCHS. 20 STS Total.

R14: HDC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 3TCHS. 20 STS Total.

R15: DC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, turn work and 1TCH. 20 STS Total.

R16: SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at end of the row, SS to complete final work. 20 STS Total.

*LARGE SIZING: EXTEND to ROW 27.

NEXT, you will sew the sides of the top together, utilizing extra yarn strands and a tapestry needle [or a smaller hook!]

Sew ROW 1-ROW 9 SIDES together, sides of the top.

Sew ROW 14-ROW 16 together, the neck of the top.

FINISHING TECHNIQUE

For the Neckline, insert your hook unto the top of the Neckline. You will be working in rounds. 23 STS in the round.

RND1: [Decrease every 2 STS] HDC into all of the STS for the entire round, at end of the round, SS to continue work and 1TCH. 23 STS Total.

RND2: SC into all of the STS for the entire round, at end of the round, SS to complete final work . 23 STS Total.

Note: I added a few rounds to the bottom of the top to add more length to the top. Also, I am creating another pattern from this pattern!  Insert your hook unto the bottom of the Top. You will be working in rounds. 64 STS in the round.

RND1: HDC into all of the STS for the entire round, at end of the round, SS to continue work and 3TCHS . 64 STS Total.

RND2-RND3: DC into all of the STS for both rounds, at end of both rounds, SS to continue work, for Row 2, 3TCHS. After Row 3, 1TCH. 64 STS Total.

RND4: SC into all of the STS for the entire round, at end of the round, SS to complete final work . 64 STS Total.

FINISHING TECHNIQUE

For the Armholes, Insert your hook unto the Armholes. You will be working in rounds. 20 STS in the round.

RND1: SC into all of the STS for the entire round, at end of the round, SS to complete final work . 20 STS Total.

*Added a Patch using fabric glue!
