Tutorial Tuesday: How To Guide // Quick and Easy Chunky Crochet Hat.

I hope you're having a lovely start to the week! I've created this quick and free pattern on how to create this chunky crochet hat with a big ole pom pom attached! Enjoy!

MATERIALS

Only 1 Skein from Lollipop Yarn Bee Stretched Taffy Yarn

Super Bulky 6 // 49 Yards

Craft Scissors

Crochet Hook Used: 11.00MM

Tapestry Sewing Needle

ABBREVIATIONS

hdc=half double crochet crochet

dc=double crochet

[number]tch[s]=turning chain[s]

sts=stitches

**=Repeat method until end of round

*Note: You will be working in rounds.

CH 45 and connect the first ST to the last ST to create your round.

RND1: SC into all of the STS for the entire round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 45 STS

RND2-RND3: SC into all of the STS for all of the rounds, at the end of each round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 45 STS

RND4: SC into the first 3 STS and into the 4th [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 4th ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 34 STS

RND5: SC into the first 3 STS and into the 4th [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 4th ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 26 STS

RND6: SC into the first 3 STS and into the 4th [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 4th ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 20 STS

RND7: SC into the first 2 STS and into the 3rd [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 3rd ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 14 STS

RND8: SC into the first 1 ST and into the 2nd [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 2nd ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly. 7 STS

RND9: SC into the first 1 ST and into the 2nd [single crochet decrease: video reference] You will repeat this method for every 2nd ST within the round, at the end of the round SS to close final work.

To create the Pom Pom Detailing

Using the remaining yarn left over, I utilized the hand technique. Wrapping the yarn around my hand several times, before knotting and securing the yarn [using a light yarn]. Video Reference Here

Using a light yarn to thread the pom pom to the very top of the hat, utilizing the tapestry needle, securing it in place.

Tutorial Tuesday: How To Guide // Create Your Own G-Squared Crochet Shorts!

I hope you're having a lovely start to the week! I've created this absolutely free how to create your own pair of granny squared inspired colorful shorts. As a thank you to those who have supported any little bit of this amazing craft that I love. I appreciate You, so please Enjoy!

THE INGREDIENTS

I used Scrap Yarn leftover from Projects all Caron Simply Soft Yarn// Medium 4

You can use as many colors as you choose [I used 7 total] Less than half a skein of yarn [depending on the amount of yarn] 10-12 yards of yarn per color [

Craft Scissors

Crochet Hook H/8 5.00 MM

Tapestry Sewing Needle

Measuring Tape

Sewing Needle and Thread

Elastic Band [1 inch band]

ABBREVIATIONS

hdc=half double crochet crochet

dc=double crochet

**=Repeat method until end of round

First things First!

You will want to measure the circumference of your waist. I wanted the shorts to hit a bit higher, around the belly button. Write down your measurements. 

Next, you will measure your elastic band, utilizing the number from your waist measurement with a few centimeters longer [like 2-3 cm]
Cut your elastic band and with your sewing needle and thread, overlap those few centimeters to sew securely [for that extra 2-3 cms] together to create a round.

Next, you will crochet to to the length of the elastic band and from your waist measurement, [disregarding those 2-3 cms]. [For Example: I measured out 28, I crocheted to 95 STS.]
After chaining to the amount [allowing turning chain amount]
For Row 1: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS and once you hit the last ST you will pause your work here.

Next, you will sew that first round to the inside/back of the elastic band, using your sewing needle and thread securing the crochet to the band. Sew in between the STS, you might have to double around. [My version is hand sewn!]

CONTINUING THE PATTERN...

You will return back to the Row 1, you will insert your hook back into your last ST. You will SS to connect the last ST to the very first ST. Thus, creating a round. Creating a round process which you will be working from now forth. Also, you can alternate colors [every other round] however, you choose. NOTE: You will be alternating colors for Each individualized round.
For Round 2-Round 4: HDC into all of the STS for ALL of the rounds, at the end of the round, SS to continue work as well as accomodate turning chain accordingly.

For Round 5-Round 22: HDC into the first ST, **CH 1, Skip 3 STS and into the following ST, HDC [three times all into the same ST] next, CH 1, Skip 3 STS and HDC [three times all into the same ST...[**Repeat this method until the end of the round, of which you will end on a single HDC to complete the round, at the end of the round, SS to continue work and turning chain accordingly.] At final Round [22] You will SS to complete final work for this section. 14 inches in length // 119 STS per round.

*Also, if you want to lengthen the shorts, extend from Round 22 or decrease from that section depending on personal preference.

Next, Measure out the bottom of your shorts. Mine was 16.5. You will find the middle section which will utilize only 1 inch, to start the middle section to construct the "shorts" appearance.

Insert hook into middle for 5 STS [2.5 inches width] solely or more depending on personal preference.
For Row 1 -Row 6: HDC into all of the STS for all of the rows, utilizing turning chains accordingly.
When you hit Row [6] SS to complete the final work for this section.

Turn the project inside out to sew the middle section using your sewing tapestry needle and a strand of yarn [9 inches or so]  [as shown above "middle photo"]  Sew the section to the other side of the bottom piece [as shown above "right"] Connecting the strip together, securing it.

*Also, if you want to lengthen the middle section, extend from Row 6 or decrease from that section depending on personal preference.

Tutorial Tuesday: The 3 Fringe Infinity Scarf. Free Crochet Pattern.

Hope you are having a lovely day, hope it's not too cold where you are! I was gifted with a marvelous pink coat through the Holidays and finally had a reason to utilize this yarn that I've had for quite awhile! So I designed up this snuggly infinity scarf with a bit of fringe detail to share with you all. I truly hope you enjoy!

THE INGREDIENTS

1 Skein [Yarn from Bernat] [Bulky 5] (from Michaels)

THE PATTERN

CH FOR 12. [8 inches width] final length: 22 inches

R1: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 3TCHS.

R2: DC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 2TCHS.

R3: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 3TCHS.

R4: DC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 2TCHS.

R5: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 3TCHS.

R6: DC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 2TCHS.

R7: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 3TCHS.

R8: DC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 2TCHS.

R9: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of each row, turn work and 3TCHS.

R10-R19: DC into all of the STS, for all of the rows, at end of each row, turn work and 3TCHS.

R20: DC into the first two STS, CH 1 and Skip 1 ST, DC into the following two STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST, then DC into the following 2 STS, CH 1, Skip 1 ST, DC into the remaining last STS to complete this row and section. Cut off remaining strand, to fasten and weave in the ends.

Creating the fringe tassels. 3 SETS. Next, cut approximately for 6 strands, 8 inches each. Two strands will go together to become a tassel for each opening [from the chain one opening of Row 20] You will guide the strand through the opening and fold the strands together to knot and secure in its place. [like the photo above] 

Sewing the scarf together. Utilizing a strand of yarn, half an inch or so, using a tapestry needle you will sew through the STS of Row 1 combining to Row 20 to complete and secure the infinity scarf technique.

Free Crochet Costume Pattern! Featuring Harley Quinn!

 

 Hello there! With Halloween looming I wanted to create an item that represented one of my favorite DC characters, the Great Harley Quinn. Being gifted this jacket, I felt something was missing and I decided to whip up this skirt to share with you all! Enjoy!

 Ingredients:  
Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.00MM

Yarn used>> 1 Skein for Both colors [RED/BLACK]/Red Heart Super Saver /Medium 4
Thread and Sewing Needle

First things first, I measure my waist, leaving an inch free for sewing purposes.
Once the measurement is complete, I measure my elastic band with the exact same measurements. [I tend to go a size up for secure fitting.] 30 inches total for 29 at the completion. [Mine is a Small Medium Fit]

Added Guide for Additional Sizing:

 [NOTE: though do entirely recommend measuring for specific personalized fit.]

27 inches total for 26 at the completion. [Small Fit]

34 inches total for 33 at the completion. [Medium]

41 inches total for 40 at the completion. [Large]

49 inches total for 48 at the completion. [Extra Large Fit]

Next, I cut the elastic, overlap the ends, [that extra inch] together and then I hand sew them, using the needle and thread very securely. Now, Using my black yarn, I begin the process of creating the crocheted band to overlap the elastic band.

Creating the Band

CH 7 for 6 STS [one ST will count as a turning chain] [1.5 inches in width]

R1-R86: CH 1, SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of each row, 1TCH and continue work for all 86 Rows. At final Row [86] SS to complete work and to sew in the remaining strand.

For Additional Sizing Guide:

 Small: Deduct 7 More Rows. [80 Rows Total]

Medium/Large: Add 8 More Rows. [94 Rows Total] 

Large: Add 28 More Rows. [114 Rows Total]

Extra /Extra Large: Add 50 More Rows. [136 Rows Total] 

Once the crocheted band is complete. You will overlap the crocheted band over the sewn elastic band, with a 32 inches of cut yarn and yarn sewing needle. You will horizontally sew the band onto the elastic sewn band, [in between corresponding STS] 86 TOTAL. Sewing and securing the crocheted band.

 Creating the bottom of the Skirt

You will be working in round, SS to connect and continue work. [Turning chain does not count as a single ST]

Will be switching colors mid row, use reference for assistance!

Complete total length: 11.5 inches

Using your Black yarn. R1: CH 3, DC into all of the STS for the entire round, at end of round, SS to connect and 3TCH. 86 STS TOTAL.

Next, Dividing your ST amount "86" by two. So that both colors have equal amounts. Hence 43 STS for Black and 43 STS for Red!

DIY // Hearts All Over Crochet Beanie // Free Crochet Pattern!

Hello there! In the spirit of all things heart themed, I wanted to share this free crochet pattern just in time for Valentines Day!

Ingredients:     Crochet Hook>> L-8.00MM  Craft Scissors // Tapestry Yarn Sewing Needle //Half a Skein of  Lion Brand "Impeccable Yarn" //1 Skein of Loops and Threads Charisma TWEED - "100% Acrylic" // Needle and Thread // Pom pom maker
  Stitch guide:    HDC= half double crochet// SC=single crochet// DC=double crochet// SS= slip stitch //ST(S)= stitch(es)// CH= chain // Round[number] Row[number]

Ch 3 and connect the last ST to the first ST by SS.

Next, you will Ch 2 and HDC 6 times into the middle of the connect chain.

Round 1: Ch 2, HDC into the first ST once into the following ST HDC (two times)... [*You will repeat this method for the entire round, by alternating HDC once and then HDC twice in next st.. at end of round, SS and 2TCHS to continue work.]

Round 2: HDC into the first ST once, HDC into the following ST once as well, into the next ST HDC (two times)... [*You will repeat this method for the entire round, by alternating HDC once into the following 2 STS, and then HDC twice in next st.. at end of round, SS and 2TCHS to continue work.]

Round 6-Round 10 : HDC into all of the STS for all of the rounds, at the end of each round, ss to continue work. At final round [ 10] SS, to complete final work.

Creating the mini hearts 

Ch 3, SS to connect work.

Into the middle of the chain,

2 dc, 2 hdc, 1 dc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st

Pull the ST through the middle to SS to complete work.

Create about 8 hearts or to desired amount.

Creating the Pom Pom.

For this technique I utilized my Pom Pom maker in order to achieve the look.

Once again, using the yarn sewing needle and corresponding yarn to sew through he inside top of the hat to secure the Pom Pom on.
