Free Crochet Costume Pattern! Featuring Harley Quinn!

 

 Hello there! With Halloween looming I wanted to create an item that represented one of my favorite DC characters, the Great Harley Quinn. Being gifted this jacket, I felt something was missing and I decided to whip up this skirt to share with you all! Enjoy!

 Ingredients:  
Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.00MM
Craft Scissors
Yarn Sewing Needle
Yarn used>> 1 Skein for Both colors [RED/BLACK]/Red Heart Super Saver /Medium 4
Thread and Sewing Needle

2cm Elastic Band

Measuring Tape

Stitch guide:  
HDC= half double crochet  
SC= single crochet
SS= slip stitch
ST(S)= stitch(es)
CH= chain
R[number]= Row
RND= Round

First things first, I measure my waist, leaving an inch free for sewing purposes.
Once the measurement is complete, I measure my elastic band with the exact same measurements. [I tend to go a size up for secure fitting.] 30 inches total for 29 at the completion. [Mine is a Small Medium Fit]

Added Guide for Additional Sizing:

 [NOTE: though do entirely recommend measuring for specific personalized fit.]

27 inches total for 26 at the completion. [Small Fit]

34 inches total for 33 at the completion. [Medium]

41 inches total for 40 at the completion. [Large]

49 inches total for 48 at the completion. [Extra Large Fit]

Next, I cut the elastic, overlap the ends, [that extra inch] together and then I hand sew them, using the needle and thread very securely. Now, Using my black yarn, I begin the process of creating the crocheted band to overlap the elastic band.

Creating the Band

CH 7 for 6 STS [one ST will count as a turning chain] [1.5 inches in width]

R1-R86: CH 1, SC into all of the STS for the entire row, at the end of each row, 1TCH and continue work for all 86 Rows. At final Row [86] SS to complete work and to sew in the remaining strand.

For Additional Sizing Guide:

 Small: Deduct 7 More Rows. [80 Rows Total]

Medium/Large: Add 8 More Rows. [94 Rows Total] 

Large: Add 28 More Rows. [114 Rows Total]

Extra /Extra Large: Add 50 More Rows. [136 Rows Total] 

Once the crocheted band is complete. You will overlap the crocheted band over the sewn elastic band, with a 32 inches of cut yarn and yarn sewing needle. You will horizontally sew the band onto the elastic sewn band, [in between corresponding STS] 86 TOTAL. Sewing and securing the crocheted band.

 Creating the bottom of the Skirt

You will be working in round, SS to connect and continue work. [Turning chain does not count as a single ST]

Will be switching colors mid row, use reference for assistance!

Complete total length: 11.5 inches

Using your Black yarn. R1: CH 3, DC into all of the STS for the entire round, at end of round, SS to connect and 3TCH. 86 STS TOTAL.

Next, Dividing your ST amount "86" by two. So that both colors have equal amounts. Hence 43 STS for Black and 43 STS for Red!

HandMade: The Lively Co-ord Crochet Skirt and Crochet Top.

 Hello there! Hope you're having a lovely week! This design was brought about for my recent new love, coordinating outfits. I love the notion of having your outfit all sorted together, matching so perfectly. To be honest, I'm a huge mix and matcher (which will be another collection in the near future!) so creating a piece that go hand in hand with each other, would be out of the question. Though honestly, I think it's an awesome collaboration of two pieces that were simply meant to be.

This crochet pattern is an easy to follow, make it your own, longer or shorter design that you can create to your own personal style. Which is what my patterns are all about! I love this concept and I  am entirely not even thinking about stopping here!

DIY: The Crochet Drawstring Skirt// Free Pattern!

Hello there! This project was actually inspired by an older project I created when I first started this blog. So I thought I would bring it back to life with a new improved twist!

Ingredients:    
Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.00MM  & G/6-4.25MM Craft Scissors Yarn Sewing Needle
Yarn used>>1 Skein Each of Cream/Hot Pink (Caron Simply Soft Yarn) Medium 4
Measurements of Top:   Length of skirt: 15 inches  
Waist band: 19 inches Width of skirt: 21.5 inches Size Small 
Stitch guide:  DC= double crochet   
SC= single crochet
SS= slip stitch
ST(S)= stitch(es)
CH= chain R[number]= Row  

Step 1  (left to right)
This first step is to create the band for the waistband. Using the hot pink yarn first and
H/8-5.00MM hook/
CH 93
R1-R8: SC in all of the STS for all of the Rows, turn work when complete after each Row, for the final Row, SS to end the step.
For the finishing technique, SC around the entire finished crocheted piece, SS at the very end to complete the piece.
CH 191 for the Drawstring. 

Step 2 (left to right)
Place the Chain of 191 as the Drawstring, into the finished crocheted piece, lie it inside of the piece, fold the piece horizontally. Now sew around the crocheted piece with the drawstring inside, leaving the opening for where the drawstrings will be.

Once complete, sew the Back of the opening (where the drawstrings are) to secure the band together.
Step 3 (left to right)
Next, to start the bottom of the skirt. Using your G/6-4.25MM hook and the hot pink yarn. 
Note: You will connect the end of the Row, by SS.
R1:  DC into the first ST, *DC two times into the following ST, DC into the following ST... *Repeat method until the end of the Row.
R2-R12:  DC into all of the STS, for all of the Rows, at the end of the Row Row 12, SS to complete the skirt.

Now to Switch colors for the skirt.
Using your G/6-4.25MM hook and the cream yarn.
R13-R17:  DC into all of the STS, for all of the Rows.

HandMade// The Crochet Mini Cable Skirt.

Hello there! As the Holiday times are swiftly approaching, I have been going project crazy, gearing up with a handful of local custom orders, personal handmade gifts for the fam and items for my crochet shoppe.
One of the items I am sharing now, which is up in the Dream Crochet Shoppe as I type this, is this crochet mini skirt! I have been dreaming of creating a sweater like skirt for a long time and I finally made one not just for myself, but for you all as well! I absolutely love the technique that emulates the look of a cable knit even though it is crochet, it entirely has the feel of it down packed!

HandMade: The Crochet Gable Wrap Skirt.

Hello there! First off, this was truly meant to come out a bit different than I had designed, but overall I am elated with the final product. Actually came out a tad a bit more interesting! I wanted to create a skirt with cable sweater look to it, but had an interesting structure to it. Ultimately, this is the result of the those two worlds colliding. 

This was my first time experimenting with a wrap crochet item and it definitely featured a few challenges regarding when to decrease and increase the rows according to my measurements. Over time, I'm sure I get the hook of it. (see what I did there har har.) This skirt will entirely keep me warm during the kind of chilly times here in Texas, but the comfort what I aim for with all of my pieces. The comfy level needs to be on point especially with yarn!

The yarn I used was Red Heart Super Saver (Forest Green)
The hook I used was a K/101/2-6.50MM
The Crochet Gable Wrap Skirt pattern is entirely experimental, made from my own pattern! Planning to place the pattern for purchase on my Pattern Shoppe!

HandMade: The Crossed Crochet Suspender Skirt.

This has to be one of my favorite crochet pieces as of yet. With my lovely obsession of anything that has suspenders attached to it, this design popped into my head and I could not wait to make it! Now that I have, I'm ready to make more, many many more!

This suspender dress, follows the usual method in which I create my skirts with an elastic waist, I simply attached straps that criss cross in the back. It is insanely comfortable and can be worn with a slip or a pair of biker shorts underneath. The next time I create this design, I will probably create adjustable straps to wear either straight or criss cross if I choose to! I will most likely evolve the pattern, tight stitches that is, to fit the Fall and Winter seasons. (Yes, my mind is already on the approaching season! Can't help it!)

HandMade: The Crochet Summer Twirl Skirt.

Hello there! This project is from last last weeks', 'On my hook." Granted, it was supposed to be a baby doll dress; however, I scrapped that idea for a fun twirly skirt with an elastic band. This pattern most certainly crept out of nowhere and I couldn't help myself, though the idea to create a baby doll dress is just put on hold for now!

What I love about this skirt, is that it has the movement that I was hoping to create. As well as the lightness that the skirt holds, so it won't feel to heavy during the heat filled summer days. Plus, I'm such a sucker for an elastic waist, they are my absolute favorite material to utilize when I am creating skirts and shorts of the like.

Project Details:
The yarn I used was Caron Simply Soft Yarn, featuring Teal.
The hook I used was a H/8-5.00MM.
The skirt crochet pattern is entirely experimental from my own pattern.

Now I am off to create some more fun crochet ideas and write up this pattern for the future!
