DIY // How To Crochet Summer Drawstring Bag. Free Crochet Pattern!

Hello there! I've been way too excited to utilize my scrap yarn that was inspired by Caron cakes. This summer bag is a DIY that I'll entirely be recreating for myself! Enjoy!

Ingredients:     

Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.00MM   

Craft Scissors    

Yarn Sewing Needle

Yarn used>>1 Skein I used scrap yarn to emulate a Caron Cake) Comprised of yarn from Caron Simply Soft Medium 4

  

Stitch guide:    

HDC= half double crochet       

SC= single crochet

SS= slip stitch

ST(S)= stitch(es)

CH= chain 

R[number]= Row 

RND= Round

You will be working in rounds to create the bag.

CH 51

Work into the second ST from the Chain.

RND 1-RND 4: SC into all of the STS for all the rounds to increase the oval...Until you reach the last ST then you will SC three times into the final ST. Total of 58 STS by Round 4, increasing by 2 STS.

RND 5: HDC into all of the STS (Repeat this method for the entire Round, connect at the end of the Round and CH 3.)

RND 6-RND 15: DC into the first ST, CH 1, Skip 1 ST, then DC into the following ST.. (Repeat this method for all of the Rounds, connect at the end of the Round and CH 2.)

RND 16: CH 3, skip the first ST to HDC into the following ST, HDC into the following stitches until you hit the opposite side of the oval (Stitch 20) CH 1, Skip 1 ST, then HDC into the remaining STS. SS to complete final work.

To make the chain for the straps. Where you created the skipped space from Round 16. Insert your hook and chain 75 or to desired length. Once chained, insert hook into the opposite sides skipped space from Round 19 to SS to connect. [Pictured Right.]

To create the drawstring for the cinched appearance. Only use a Chain 88 to weave in between spaces created from Round 18. Skip every other space. [Pictured Left to Middle.]

DIY: Strawberry Crochet Bag>> Free Crochet Pattern!

Hello there! Hope you had a lovely weekend and a wonderful start to your week! I can't help, but have Strawberry Fields forever stuck on repeat in my head as I compose this post! Though my love for fruit inspired items have extended unto the creation of this bag and I am quite elated to share this free pattern with whomever!

Ingredients:    

Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.50MM 
Craft Scissors  
Yarn Sewing Needle
Yarn used>>1 Skein from Sugar N' Cream (Colors: Red/Green/White)

  Stitch guide:   

HDC= half double crochet// SC=single crochet// DC=double crochet// SS= slip stitch //ST(S)= stitch(es)// CH= chain R[number]= Row

Using Red Yarn

CH 3
Connect the last ST to the very first ST by SS, CH 1.
R1: HDC two times into the very first ST, then continue to HDC [only once] into the next ST, into the following ST HDC [two times] and HDC [only once] into the next ST... (**Repeat method until the end of the Row, you will SS to complete Row.)
R2: **HDC two times into the first TWO STS, then continue to HDC [only once] into the next ST [3rd ST], into the following 2 STS, HDC [two times] and HDC [only once] into the next ST... (**Repeat method until the end of the Row, you will SS to complete Row.) 
R3: **HDC two times into the first THREE STS, then continue to HDC [only once] into the next ST [4th ST], into the following ST HDC [two times] and HDC [only once] into the next ST... (**Repeat method until the end of the Row, you will SS to complete Row.)  
R4: **HDC two times into the first FOUR STS, then continue to HDC [only once] into the next ST [5th ST], into the following ST HDC [two times] and HDC [only once] into the next ST... (**Repeat method until the end of the Row, you will SS to complete Row.) 
R5: **HDC two times into the first FIVE STS, then continue to HDC [only once] into the next ST [6th ST], into the following ST HDC [two times] and HDC [only once] into the next ST... (**Repeat method until the end of the Row, you will SS to complete Row.) 
R6-R17: HDC into all of the STS for ALL of the Rows into ALL of the STS, you will SS to complete work. 

To create the "white specks"

Photo example on the right [above]

Turn the bag inside out and cut a short strand of white yarn. You will loop the strand of white yarn (using a yarn sewing needle or a hook) around any random stitch around the bag. Tying the strand into a knot on the inside of the bag.

Using Green Yarn

Insert hook into the complete red portion of the finished crocheted piece.
R18-R21: HDC into all of the STS for ALL of the Rows into ALL of the STS, you will SS to complete work on row. Continue repeating method.
R22: **HDC into the first four STS, CH 2, Skip 2 STS, HDC into the following four STS...(**Repeat method until the end of the Row, you will SS to complete Row.)
R23: SC into all of the STS for the Rows into ALL of the STS, you will SS to complete work on row.

To create the drawstring.

CH 81
Cut and knot to secure chain.
Insert chain into the open spaces created by Row 22, to create the drawstring effect.

To create the straps.

CH 15

R1-R40: [Or however long you desire the strap to be] HDC into all of the STS for ALL of the Rows into ALL of the STS, you will SS to complete work on row. Continue repeating method until you hit the final Row. Row 40, SS to complete final work.

Next, Fold the complete crocheted piece, vertically and using your yarn sewing needle and a strand of yarn, sew the straps together.

Next, You will sew the ends of the straps to the side of using your yarn yarn sewing needle and a strand of yarn.

Hello there! I hope you are having a nice start to your week! This design was inspired by my Polaroid camera and wanting to create a cute special little bag for it. That I can easily place in a larger tote if I'm heading to the beach or simply hanging out!

 Ingredients:    
Crochet Hook>> H/8-5.50MM 
Craft Scissors  
Yarn Sewing Needle
Yarn used>>1 Skeins of  Each from Sugar N' Cream (Colors: Yellow/White/Green/Hot Pink)

HandMade: The Atlantic Crochet Bag.

Hello there & Happy Turkey Day! Here is my complete project, from last week's, What's on my hook?  I am quite elated on how the bag came out! Being inspired by this bag here, found at Modcloth and no longer available. I wanted to use that inspiration and create a bag with more of my design/take on it. The design was set in my mind and I knew there had to be fringe, pom poms and braided crochet somewhere. It's just super great that it all suited each other in a way that complimented the bag and I feel, didn't over do it! The bag is lined with a simple black fabric that I sewed into the interior of the bag.

I must say that, all though there was a brief pause in the creation of this bag, after leaving it to work on other items. I let the idea sit in my head before I entirely completed it and I am glad I did that without rushing the process.

The crochet technique I used, was the  half double crochet, single crochet, braiding the chains and utilized an open stitch technique. 

The Yarn I used:  Country Rose// Caron One Pound
The Hook I used: H/8-5.00 MM   
The Pattern I used: Experimental: My Own!
