Tutorial Tuesday: Crochet Bow Finger-Free Cuffs // Free Crochet Pattern!

Hello there and Happy Tuesday to you!  So I wanted to share a super quick and easy pattern on how to keep your fingers warm while you're crafting away! I absolutely love finger-less gloves especially during the colder seasons so I modified a past pattern and created a swift version to share! Enjoy!

The Ingredients

Less than 1 Ball of Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice in Scarlet // Medium 4 // 100% acrylic

Craft Scissors

Crochet Hook: H/8 5.00 MM

Tapestry Sewing Needle

 Abbreviations

sc=single crochet

hdc=half double crochet

[number]tch[s]=turning chain[s]

sts=stitches

The Pattern

I measured the circumference of my head/hair, my measurements will be a bit bigger because of my protective braids, though I would recommend sizing your own and crocheting to that specific sizing. [Note: You can always return back to the beginning to create a snug fit, with one round of single crochet.]

First, I chained for 21 (depending on your wrist size you might want to modify.

RND1: HDC the entire round, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

RND2: SC the entire round, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

RND3: HDC the entire round, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

RND4: HDC the entire round, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

RND5: SC the entire round, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

RND6: HDC the entire round, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

*LEFT HAND

You will SC only for 5 STS for the start of the row. To begin the thumb hole, you will CH 5.

After CH 5, skip 5 STS and SC into the remaining STS.

*RND7: SC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

*RIGHT HAND

You will HDC only for 15 STS for the start of the row. To begin the thumb hole, you will CH 5.

After CH 5, skip 5 STS and SC into the final ST.

*RND7: SC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

Continuing on.....

BOTH

RND8: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

RND9: SC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the round, SS to connect work and turning chain accordingly.

CREATING THE BOW

CH for 11

RND1: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the row turn work to continue.

RND2: SC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the row turn work to continue.

RND3: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the row turn work to continue.

RND4: SC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the row turn work to continue.

RND5: HDC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the row turn work to continue.

RND6: SC the entire row, into all of the STS, at end of the row, SS to complete work.

You will cut a piece of yarn, not too long. (I didn't really estimate the length!)

Threading the yarn, into the sewing yarn needle, you will scrunch the center of the bow. (Like the photo above!)

After the bow is tied and scrunched, you will want to stitch it by sewing the bow to the wrist cuff. I sewed the middle of the bow to the front of the wrist cuff. (You will have to try the wrist cuff on, to find the exact position! :)) Now it is complete to start the tutorial over again to create the other half!

DIY: How To Crochet A Scalloped Bow Headband // Free Crochet Pattern.

 Hello there! Having a touch of fantasy  as well as whimsy hit me and I wanted to create a super whimsical crochet accessory that you can easily create under 30 minutes!

Ingredients:    

Crochet Hook>> H/8 5.00MM  Craft Scissors   Yarn Sewing Needle
  Yarn used>>Half a Skein [Lion Brand Yarn] Medium 4

  Stitch guide:    HDC= half double crochet// SC=single crochet// DC=double crochet// SS= slip stitch //ST(S)= stitch(es)// CH= chain RND[number]= Round

CH 15

R1-R8: HDC into all of the STS for All of the Rows, turn work after completed row. After final row, SS to complete work.

Begin the scalloped trim around the completed piece.

R1: SC into the first ST, [two times] SS into the following ST, CH 1, and *into the following SC [two times into the next ST, SS into the following ST, CH 1...[*Repeat method until the very beginning of the Row, SS to complete work.]

 Next, scrunch the middle section of the bow, to wrap around yarn strands, tie the strands around the middle and tie, knot the strand.

Next, you will want to measure the circumference of your head and chain accordingly.

CH 65

Connect the first ST to the very last ST.

R1: HDC into all of the STS for the entire Row,  after final row, SS to complete work.

To connect and secure the bow to the headband, you will sew, [using a strand of yarn] the back of the bow to the headband.

DIY: Crochet Bow Case Free Pattern.

Hello there! Since I love switching up my traveling crochet cases, the idea for this pattern was entirely the next design in line. With a sweet little bow design you can actually utilize this case for many other fun ideas like a pencil case or a cosmetic traveling pouch!

Ingredients:
Scissors (not pictured)
7in 18 cm polyester zipper
Needle and thread
Sewing yarn needle
Crochet hook H/8-5.00MM
Yarn of your choice (I chose Vanna's Choice/Hot Pink)

Abbreviations:
CH= chain
SC= single crochet
HDC= half double crochet
SS= slip stitch

You will first CH 25,
Turn work, and SC the entire first Row,
Turn and continue SC Row 2- Row 14.
SS at the end, cut and sew in the remaining yarn.

Reconnect the yarn, you will SC around the entire piece for a finished look.
SS at the end, cut and sew in the remaining yarn.

You will create this piece two times,
For the front as well as the back of the case. 

To create the bow.
You will CH 12, Turn,
 HDC the entire Row 1, Turn,
To continue the HDC technique until Row 25.
SS at the end, cut and sew in the remaining yarn.

Once complete.
Reconnect the yarn, you will SC around the entire piece for a finished look.
SS at the end, cut and sew in the remaining yarn.

Cut about less than half an inch of yarn.
Find the 13th row, to tie the yarn around the middle of the bow securing it tightly.
Knot it and cut.
Using an inch of yarn that you will cut,
Wrap the yarn around the middle of the bow. (I wrapped about 4-5 times.)
Tying the yarn in what will be the back of it,
Knot it and cut it.

To attach the bow.
You will sew the ends of the bow to one of the pieces which will be the front piece.
Using your yarn sewing needle, you will simply sew the side of the bow, into the very end of the bow. On both sides this action will be done.
Cut and sew in the remaining edges, to the other side, (what will be the inside of the case.)

To attach the zipper.

Lie the piece flat, which placing the piece on top of the zipper, not too close to where the teeth of the zipper lies. 

With the thread and needle, you will sew the top piece to the zipper.

You will continue this method for both sides of case piece.

Once complete.

With the yarn sewing needle and a bit of yarn.

You will sew the sides and the bottom case pieces together to complete the project!

DIY: Crochet Skinny (Bow) Scarf.

Hello there! I wanted to make a simple and easy tutorial to make this crochet skinny scarf, so that you can wrap it into a bow! I will probably make another variation of this concept, but in a different manner in the near future!

The Ingredients:

>> Scissors

>> H/8-5.00 Crochet Hook

>> Yarn of your choosing

Crochet Techniques with abbreviations:
>>SC= Single Crochet
>>HDC=Half Double Crochet
>>SS=Slip Stitch
>>CH=Chain

First step: CH 5

Next, for the 1st Row you will HDC the entire Row & turn
For the 2nd Row, you will SC the entire Row & turn

You will repeat this method of HDC and SC until you reach Row 144.
End the Row with a SS, cut and weave in the ends.

Your finished project all rolled up!

HandMade: The Crochet Red Hooded Cape.

The Crochet Red Hooded Cape, entirely whimsical, fantasy driven project that was heavily inspired by all of those things. Must say, I feel like a hobbit in this cape and if you know me, that is an insanely beautiful thing! I knew I wanted to make this cape, as soon as I finished this one. I pushed it off until I could find the right color of red and this shade fits the theme quite suitably. I feel as if I would like to create a longer piece, same exact method, but that will depend on just how cold it actually gets here this Winter!

The crochet technique I used, for the cape was a half double crochet and double crochet and a bit of open spacing once again to allow a bit of not so heavy feel. For the hood as well as the bow, I applied the same technique to continue the consistency throughout the project. For the trim, I made an almost picot-esque edging to apply the whimsy feel to the piece.
